SECFT represents the International Cartographic Association (ICA) and the International Society of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS) in Spain.
Over the past years and in fulfillment of this obligation, SECFT has been present at the fifteen international conferences organised every two years by the ICA, and at the eight conventions organised every four years by the ISPRS. At the same time, SECFT has represented our cartographic sector at the General Meetings of the ICA, and the photogrammetry and remote sensing sector at those of the ISPRS.
The Society has sent a Report to each of these Meetings, detailing the activities carried out in Spain in relation with these subjects for the years prior to each of the aforementioned conferences and conventions.
A special mention is merited for the work the Society has done in organising the participation of Spanish cartography in the International Maps Exhibitions.
We should also point out that, in recent years, Spanish cartography has successfully won awards in several exhibitions held during the International Cartographic Conferences. This happened in 1995 in Barcelona (Spain), in 1999 in Ottawa (Canada), in 2003 in Durban (South Africa), and in 2005 in A Coruña (Spain). It has been highly gratifying to our Society to have promoted and contributed to the organisation of the Spanish participation in these exhibitions, as has been the recognition obtained from the juries, who have awarded prestigious prizes to our maps.
